Don’t let people be mean to you.
Something someone said to me the other day that’s kind of stuck with me, she told me, “don’t let people be mean to you.” I’m sure it sounds trivial. You shouldn’t let people be mean to you, but it’s much easier said than done. How often do we really let others determine our worth, give us value, undermine who we are? We do it all the time. We shouldn’t.
Allow people to treat you the way you want to be treated. Don’t be afraid to speak up when you feel you are mistreated. It’s not about mistreating others, feeling you are better than others, more important. It’s that we are all equal, all special and all unique individuals who deserve to be treated kindly and with respect. It’s not a perfect world, we all have bad days, but those are never good enough reasons to feel like you mean less than someone else.
